Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Benchtop ("Benchtop," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the tools and pages at benchtop.tools (the "Site"). We've tried to write it in plain language.
Our approach in one sentence
The tools on Benchtop are built to run entirely in your browser. When you use a tool — formatting JSON, generating a QR code, calculating a mortgage payment, and so on — the data you enter is processed locally on your own device. It is not uploaded to our servers, not stored by us, and not visible to us.
Information you enter into tools
Anything you type, paste, or upload into a Benchtop tool stays on your device. This includes text, code, tokens, files, numbers, and any other input. We do not transmit it, log it, or retain it. Because this processing happens in your browser, closing or refreshing the page clears it.
Information collected automatically
While your tool inputs stay private, we do collect limited, standard information about how the Site is used, so we can understand traffic and keep the Site working well:
- Usage and analytics data.We use Google Analytics to collect aggregate information such as pages visited, approximate location (country/region), device and browser type, referring website, and general interaction events (for example, which tools are opened). This helps us see what's useful and improve the Site. Google Analytics may set cookies and process this data in accordance with its own policies.
- Log and technical data. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may automatically record standard technical information such as IP address, request time, and user agent for security and reliability purposes.
Advertising and cookies
Benchtop displays ads through Google AdSense. To do this, Google and its partners:
- Use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and, where applicable, to personalize the ads you see based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- May use a third-party advertising cookie to serve ads based on your interests.
You can control personalized advertising:
- Manage your Google ad settings at https://adssettings.google.com.
- Opt out of personalized advertising from participating vendors at https://www.aboutads.info and https://youronlinechoices.eu.
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland: Before personalized ads are shown, you will be presented with a consent message asking whether you agree to the use of cookies for advertising. Your choices there govern how ads are personalized for you.
The cookies used on the Site generally fall into three categories: analytics cookies (to measure usage), advertising cookies (set by Google and its partners), and functional storage (for example, remembering your light/dark theme preference, which is stored locally in your browser and not sent to us).
You can also control or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how ads are shown but will not affect your ability to use the tools.
Third-party services
We rely on the following third parties, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Analytics — https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google AdSense — https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to object to certain processing. Because we do not collect or store the data you enter into tools, most such requests will concern analytics or advertising data handled by the third parties above; you can exercise many of these choices directly through the ad and cookie controls listed earlier, or by contacting us.
Children's privacy
Benchtop is a general-audience site and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Data security
We take reasonable measures to keep the Site secure. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
